Dr. Heather Cathcart

Originally from Savannah, GA, Dr. Cathcart chose ABAC because as a product of the University System of Georgia, she wants to give back and endeavors to instill in her students the same enthusiasm she has for science and research. Also, the close proximity to family and the fact that Tifton is named among the 100 Best Small Towns in America helped entice her!
Dr. Cathcart’s scientific education has been diverse, ranging from marine biology and genetics to neuroscience and immunology. Previous research projects that Dr. Cathcart has been involved with include: classical fungal genetics, genetics of late-onset Alzheimer’s disease, immune factors important in viral eye infections, and immune responses contributing to age related glaucoma.
