Living Learning Communities

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I join a Living/Learning Community LLC? LLC students enjoy a richer educational and social experience. They make life-long friends. Students who choose Living/Learning Communities are more likely to get involved on campus. In fact, the current Student Government Association President participated in the You Might be a Leader if LLC. Others serve as Community Assistants and ABAC Ambassadors. LLC students are more likely to return to ABAC to complete their degree programs.

Do I live with students in my LLC? Each Living/Learning Community has a reserved living area in ABAC Lakeside. This enables LLC students to participate in Residence Life activities designed especially for them. If you want to room with a student outside the LLC your request will be honored.

Can commuter students join an LLC? Yes. Living on campus is not a requirement. Are the LLC classes extra classes? No. LLCs include two core classes that are required for all students. The ABAC 1000 Freshman Seminar is a one-hour elective course.

Do I take all of my classes with students in my LLC? No. Three classes are included in each LLC. You will take the remainder of your classes (typically two or three) with other students.
