Office of Federal Programs

Office of Federal Programs

Carlton Center

The Office of Federal Programs (OFP) operates as part of the Academic Affairs unit. OFP’s mission is twofold. First, OFP provides administration and management of the following federal programs: HEP/CAMP/SSS/Upward Bound. In addition, OFP offers support to the Office of Sponsored Programs.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS

The following programs report to this office:

CAMP
The College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) assists students who are migratory or seasonal farm workers (or children of such workers) enrolled in their first year of undergraduate studies at an Institution of Higher Education (IHE).   The funding supports completion of the first year of studies.   Competitive five–year grants for CAMP projects are made to IHEs or to nonprofit agencies that cooperate with such institutions.   CAMP grants are funded through the U.S. Department of Education, Migrant Education Office

HEP
The High School Equivalency Program (HEP) helps migratory and seasonal farm workers (or children of such workers) who are 16 years of age or older and not currently enrolled in school to obtain the equivalent of a high school diploma and, subsequently, to gain employment or begin postsecondary education or training. HEP grants are funded through the U.S. Department of Education on five year cycles.

TRIO UPWARD BOUND (UB)
The TRIO UB Program prepares high school students and veterans for success in postsecondary education. The types of programs available include Math and Science, Regular, and Veterans curriculum. ABAC has two Regular programs: The Classic and Tiftarea UB Programs. The Regular program services include a summer and academic year instructional component; instruction in subject matter, including mathematics through pre-calculus, laboratory science, and foreign language; mentoring programs; counseling and exposure to cultural events.   TRIO UB programs are funded through the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Federal TRIO Programs on five year cycles.
