Ameris Bank Donates Property to ABAC Foundation at Forest Lakes Golf Course

June 13, 2017

Ameris Bank recently made a generous donation of two pieces of undeveloped property to the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Foundation, Inc.  The property is located at ABAC’s Forest Lakes Golf Course. Ameris Bank has been a supporter of ABAC for over two decades.

The property donated by Ameris will help Forest Lakes Golf Course as it seeks to receive the designation as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary for Golf.  This is an award-winning education and certification program that helps golf courses protect the environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game of golf. By receiving the designation, the course at ABAC will help to enhance the valuable natural areas and wildlife habitats that the course provides, improve efficiency, and minimize potentially harmful impacts of golf course operations, serving an important environmental role worldwide.

The property will also expand the teaching and learning environment of the golf course, benefitting both faculty and students within the School of Agriculture and Natural Resources.  The course is an essential learning tool for students in the field of agriculture and is utilized each semester.
