Police Academy at ABAC Announces 280th Session Graduates

Fifteen individuals from the South Georgia area recently received certificates at graduation exercises for the 280th session of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) Regional Police Academy at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

Academy Director Marty Smith said the Overall Achievement award for the session went to Jeffrey S. Raulerson of the Douglas Police Department. Raulerson also finished in second place in the firearms competition. James B. Sumner of Valdosta, sponsored by the GPSTC, received first place in Academics. James S. Hinson, Jr., of the Valdosta Police Department earned second place in Academics and first place in Firearms.

Other graduates included Davina D. Evans of the Bainbridge Department of Public Safety; Ernest M. Faulk and Brandon M. Griffin of the Cairo Police Department; Christopher G. Youngblood of the Douglas Police Department; Daniel L. Paulk, Jason C. Reeves, and Robert N. Weston of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office; and Shannon C. Jones of the Telfair County Sheriff’s Office

Other graduates included William S. Wheeler of the Valdosta Police Department; James D. Brown of the Waycross Police Department; Calvin J. Campbell of the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office; and Matthew P. Edwards of Ocilla, sponsored by the GPSTC.

The GPSTC Regional Police Academy regularly holds multi-week intensive training sessions designed to acquaint officers with state-of-the-art law enforcement techniques. The Academy operates in cooperation with the School of Human Sciences at ABAC.
