Shad Steptoe from Douglas will compete with 14 other men for the title of Mr. ABAC at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on April 2. The theme for this year’s event is “Men in Uniform.”
Sponsored, produced, and directed by the Family and Consumer Sciences Club, the event will begin at 7 p.m. in Howard Auditorium. Tickets are $5 per person and will be available in Bowen Hall 205 on March 25. If the event is not a sellout, tickets will also be available for $7 at the door.
Steptoe is a freshman music major. He is the son of Jerome and Terry Steptoe and is sponsored by ABAC’s Music Department.
Contestants are sponsored by campus clubs, athletic teams, and student media. They will compete in casual attire, formal attire, and interview categories. Contestants will also be judged on a written timed essay.
The top contestant will receive a plaque and a cash prize. A contestant’s award, interview award, and essay award will also be given. Family and Consumer Sciences Club members will choose “Fun Awards” that will also be presented to contestants.
