Lowndes County, Valdosta Officers Graduate from Police Academy at ABAC
TIFTON— Thomas C. Hopkins, Dustin C. Icard, and Johnathan L. Williams of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office and Kari L. Bennett, Trey K. Gandy, Donald M. Richmond, II, Christopher R. Suarez, and Kristy L. Tabisula of the Valdosta Police Department were among 17 individuals who recently received certificates at graduation exercises for the 261st session of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) Regional Police Academy at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
Williams received first place in the Academics competition and served as president for the 261st session. Icard tied for second place in Academics and received first place in the Firearms competition. Hopkins was awarded second place in the Firearms competition.
The GPSTC regularly holds multi-week intensive training sessions designed to acquaint officers with state-of-the-art law enforcement techniques. The Academy operates in cooperation with the School of Human Sciences at ABAC.
