ABAC Travel Goes to Ireland & Iceland in 2014

TIFTON – From the emerald green pastures of Ireland to a fun-filled Christmas at the seashore, the Office of College Advancement at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College offers a wide variety of travel opportunities in 2014.  These trips are offered by ABAC through Collette Vacations and Excursions Unlimited.

The spring travel season begins March 25-April 1, 2014 with an eight-day trip to Ireland which includes visits to the city of Dublin and the town of Killarney.  Tourists will have the chance to visit St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Blarney Castle, Dinge Peninsula, the Cliffs of Moher, Ashford Castle, and take trips through the Guinness Storehouse, a whiskey distillery, and a local Irish pub.  This trip is $2,899 and includes nine meals, hotel accommodations, and round-trip airfare.

On April 26, 2014, theatregoers can travel via motor coach to Atlanta to see Disney’s “The Lion King” at the Fabulous Fox Theatre.  Based on the 1994 Academy-award winning film, the stage adaptation has won numerous Tony awards and an Oscar for the song “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” with music and lyrics by Elton John and Tim Rice.  The cost for this day trip is $155 and includes reserved orchestra seats for the matinee performance, refreshments on the bus, and lunch at Mary Mac’s Tea Room in Atlanta.

From May 29 – June 8, 2014, travelers can explore Alaska with an 11-day excursion that includes a seven-day cruise and stops in Anchorage, Haines, Juneau, and Ketchikan.  Points of interest will include a ride from Denali to Mt. McKinley, the National Scenic Byway to Seward to board the M/S Oosterdam, Glacier Bay, villages of the Yukon Gold Rush, Mendenhall Glacier, and a trip through the Inside Passage. This trip is $3,299 (inside cabin) and includes roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations, the cruise and land package, and all meals aboard the ship. 

Visit the ethereal country of Iceland from June 8-16, 2014 with the Inspiring Iceland excursion. Focal points of the trip will include the Golden Circle, a route that encompasses many of Iceland’s most renowned natural wonders including Thingvellir National Park – home to the world’s first parliament meeting in 930 A.D. and a UNESCO World Heritage site, and Hallmundarhraun, the largest lava field in the region. Other attractions include the Blue Lagoon, Snaefellsnes Peninsula, and a Puffin Cruise at the Melrakkaey Island Puffin Sanctuary.  The 9-day trip includes 10 meals, hotel accommodations, and round-trip airfare at a cost of $4,699.   Travelers can book this trip by Dec. 8 and save $250.

Cowboys and cowgirls can experience a Western Family Adventure from July 16-22, 2014 in Colorado, Wyoming, and Utah.  This trip features a night’s stay on a guest ranch, a rodeo, and visits to Jackson Hole, Yellowstone and Grand Tetons National Parks, and the Buffalo Bill Museum and Historical Center.   Families can also experience the great outdoors with fishing, horseback riding, wagon rides, and a meal under the stars.  This seven-day trip includes 10 meals, hotel accommodations, and round-trip airfare for $1,899.

Experience America’s Pacific Coast from Sept. 19–27, 2014.  Highlights will include the Columbus River Gorge, Oregon Sand Dunes, the Giant Redwoods, and Yosemite National Park.  Visitors will also get to sample wine in the Napa Valley, ride cable cars through San Francisco, and wander through “The Emerald City” of Seattle.  This trip is $2,299 and includes 15 meals, hotel accommodations, and round-trip airfare. 

Say “bon jour” to a wine tasting and train journey in the France Magnifique travel opportunity from Oct. 9-20, 2014.  This 12-day trek across the beautiful French landscape includes a dinner cruise on the Seine, a winery tour, and a train ride from Paris to Avignon.  Other focal points include Normandy, the French Riviera, Omaha Beach, Ambiose, Aix-en-Province, and Nice.  This trip is $4, 499 and includes 15 meals, roundtrip airfare, and all hotel accommodations.  Book this trip by April 9, 2014 and save $250.  Optional trips include dinner at L’Orangerie du Chateau, dinner in Nice, a tour of Versailles Palace, and “Cabaret” at the Paradis Latin.  Each of these excursions comes with an additional fee.

The holiday season gets into full swing with a trip to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland for the Classic Christmas Markets on Dec. 4-12. Travelers will arrive in Zurich before heading into Germany.  Once in the country, visitors will experience the ancient wine town of Wurzburg, the Bavarian Alpine village of Oberammergau, and the Glockenspiel and Olympic Park in Munich.  Then travel to Innsbruck, Austria to tour the popular attractions including the Hofburg and the ‘Golden Roof”.  The cost of this trip is $3,199 with eight meals, hotel accommodations, and round-trip airfare.  Book this trip by June 4, 2014 and save $250.

The 2014 travel season concludes with Christmas at the Beach from Dec. 11-14, 2014.  Travelers will depart via motor coach for a four-day trip to Charleston and Myrtle Beach, S.C.  The trip includes a dinner and a driving tour of James Island and four Christmas shows including a matinee performance of the Carolina Opry Christmas Show, Dolly Parton’s Pirate Voyage Dinner Show, the Christmas Show at the Palace Theatre, and The South’s Grandest Christmas Show at the Alabama Theatre.  This Christmas extravaganza is $699 and includes transportation via motor coach, hotel accommodations, and six meals.
