ABAC Concert Choir Presents Fall Concert November 12
TIFTON - The Concert Choir at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College will perform a variety of choral music at its annual fall concert at 7 p.m. on Nov.12 in Howard Auditorium on the ABAC campus. Directed by Dr. Susan Roe, the choir totals 75 members who are from all over the southeastern region of the United States. The concert is open to the public at no charge.
The evening begins with “The Star Spangled Banner” arranged by John Stafford Smith, followed by “Laudate Dominum” (Psalm 117) by Dan Davidson. The choir will be accompanied on this piece by Dr. Douglas Jurs, Assistant Professor of Theory and Piano for the ABAC music program and the accompanist for all ABAC choral groups. Also accompanying on this song will be Sheri Wyles and The Mannheim Musicians.
The choir will then sing another Psalm, “Psalm 23” by Paul Basler, accompanied by Dr. Jurs on piano and Rachel Smith on French horn. Smith is a freshman French horn music major from Jackson County.
The women of the choir will present Patti Drennan’s “We Are the Music-Makers” accompanied by Calah McDuffie, a sophomore piano major from Ocilla. The tenors and basses of the choir will sing acapella Joseph Martin’s “Sing Your Way Home”.
The ABAC Chamber Singers, one of the music program’s auditioned choral ensembles, will perform Daniel E. Gawthrop’s “Sing Me To Heaven”, followed by Moses Hogan’s “Wade In The Water” with soloists Kezia Green, a vocal music major from Sylvester; Erica Humbert, a vocal music major from Thomasville; and Nick Hartley, a vocal music major from Moultrie.
“The Battle of Jericho”, arranged by Moses Hogan, will be next. It will be followed by a new choral arrangement by Zoe Hobby of ABAC’s Alma Mater to end the evening.
