The Division of the
Humanities offers freshman and sophomore programs in art, English, foreign
language, journalism, music, communication/theatre, and liberal arts leading to
the Associate in Arts Degree and to further study at a senior college. These
programs provide sufficient general education and basic major courses for a
student to enter a four-year college at the junior level. Career options for
students in these programs include fine and commercial art; advertising,
photography, and graphics; newspaper, periodical, radio, TV, or technical
writing; broadcasting; speech writing; public relations; theatre; music
directing and teaching, musical instrument repair and sales, music recording;
management and other careers dependent on excellent communication skills.
A student augments humanities
course work by extensive practical experience, by co-curricular activity, and
by participating in the programs of the unique and nationally recognized
Abraham Baldwin Arts Station.
