ABAC Rec Sports

ABAC offers all current students the opportunity to engage in campus recreational activities through Intramural Sports programming, Thrash Wellness Center, and the Legacy Foundation Swimming Pool.

students who participated in rec sportsIntramural participation is entirely voluntary and students are encouraged to become involved, whether for competition or fun, in a group or as an individual; no additional fees are required. Intramural activities include basketball, bowling, softball, flag football, soccer, badminton, tennis, volleyball, and other special events. Thrash Wellness Center and the Legacy Foundation Swimming Pool have recently been renovated and all students are encouraged to incorporate new equipment and facilities into their routine toward a fit and well lifestyle.

ABAC Lighting and Open Gym Policies

Rec Field Lighting Policies

  • Only current ABAC students, faculty, and staff are allowed to use the field.
  • Lights will be on Monday-Thursday 6pm-10pm.
    • Weekends only for special events.
  • In order to use the lighting on the field you must:
    • Put event in CourseDog.
    • Event must be approved in CourseDog by the Coordinator of Intramurals.
    • All events on the field will follow the field priority list as well as the list of when the filed will be closed.
  • Rec field priority is as follows:
    • Intramural sports
    • Clubs/Organizations
    • Student free play
  • Student free play is not allowed during intramural games or events held by Clubs/Organizations.
  • Rec field will be closed during:
    • Rain
    • Bulbs go out causing dark spots on field
    • The field is unsafe to play on due to mud, etc.
  • Lighting on the field is controlled by Recreational Sports.

Outdoor Basketball Court Lighting Policies

  • Only current ABAC students, faculty, and staff are allowed to use the courts.
  • Lights will automatically shut off at midnight and will not be able to be turned back on.
  • In order to use the courts and lights for an event, you must:
    • Put event in CourseDog.
    • Event must be approved in CourseDog by the Coordinator of Intramurals.
  • All events on the courts will follow the court priority list as well as the list of when the court will be closed.
  • Outdoor basketball courts priority is as follows:
    • Intramural sports
    • Clubs/Organizations
    • Student free play
  • Student free play is not allowed during intramural games or events held by Clubs/Organizations.

    • Rain

  • Lighting on the outdoor basketball courts is controlled by Recreational Sports.

Tennis Courts Lighting Policies

  • Lights will automatically shut off at midnight and will not be able to be turned back on.
  • Tennis courts priority is as follows:
    • ABAC tennis teams
    • Intramural sports
    • Club/Organizations
    • Free play
  • Free play is not allowed during ABAC tennis matches, practices, intramurals, or club/organization events.
  • Tennis courts will be closed during:
    • Rain
    • Lighting issues
    • Court is deemed to be unsafe for any reason

Open Gym Policies

  • Only current ABAC students, faculty, and staff are allowed to participate in open gym.
  • All students, faculty, and staff must present current ABAC Gold Card to participate in open gym.
  • Open gym dates and times will be posted in CourseDog.
  • If open gym is not listed, the gym is closed.
  • Open gym is run by the Recreational Sports.
  •  A student employee will be present during all times of open gym.
  • No one is allowed to use the gym if a student employee is not present.
  • A shirt must be worn at all times.
  • Student employees reserve the right to call ABAC Police should there be a question of if someone is or is not a student.
  • Student employees reserve the right to remove someone from the gym for the following reasons:
    • Not a current student
    • Fighting
    • Abusive language
    • Causing others to feel unsafe
    • Refusal to abide by rules
  • Open gym will be closed during:
    •  No water to the building
    • Lighting issues
    • Court/building is deemed to be unsafe
