New ABAC Policy regarding Daily Standard Hours The official operating hours of Abraham Baldwin
Agricultural College will become 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through
Thursday and from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday effective December 12,
2006. Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College has adopted policy establishing the institution’s Daily Standard Hours will now be 8 ½ hours Monday Thursday and 6 hours on
Friday. The policy further states that Holiday hours will be based on the Daily Standard Hours meaning holidays that fall on Monday Thursday will now be counted as 8 ½ hours and holidays that fall on Friday will be counted as 6 hours for reporting purposes. This means that employees working the Daily Standard Hours will not have to have to provide annual leave for the ½ hour on each day nor does the institution owe an employee for the 2 hours on Friday.
Those who do not work the Standard Daily Hours: In the case of Public Safety Officers or other employees who work hours varying from the standard work day established by ABAC, the application of Holiday pay and Military Leave will be applied for the hours as set forth in the standard work day and the published holiday schedule. If the employee is scheduled to work more than the standard work day hours, he/she will be required to utilize annual leave for the remaining hours of his/her scheduled work day. If a holiday falls on a nonscheduled work day, the employee's holiday will be taken on the preceding day but at the same number of hours as for the scheduled holiday. Part-time Benefited Employees: Part-time (Half-time) benefited employees who do not work the standard 40 hours a week will receive the holiday at their standard EFT work day hours for the day. If the employee is scheduled to work more than the standard EFT work day hours, he/she will be required to utilize annual leave for the remaining hours of his/her scheduled work day. If a holiday falls on a nonscheduled work day, the employee's holiday will be taken on the preceding day but at the reduced number of hours based upon the standard hours for that specific position. Example: An employee who is part-time working 36 hours a week is entitled to 90% of the holiday pay regardless of the number of days the employee works during the week. Mandate: All time sheets must be recorded with the actual hours worked. Accurate time reporting is a mandate by the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
