A
life-long Georgia resident, Becca currently resides in Moultrie, Georgia
with her husband, Richie, and children, Carolyne (6) and Ret (3).
She began teaching at ABAC as an Adjunct Instructor in 2004 and was
hired in 2006 as a Full-Time Instructor. In 2010, she was promoted
to Assistant Professor of Communication.
Becca grew up committed to service and family and was always encouraged
to be involved.Her
involvement began in the church and in 4-H.At age 6, Becca exhibited Lucy, her first lamb in a lamb show.This started her livestock-showing career.She and her family were extremely involved in 4-H and FFA showing
lambs, hogs, steers, and heifers all over the country – it was a true
family affair with her brother and sister exhibiting as well.In high school, Becca held numerous offices in the Bainbridge FFA
chapter, was in the honor society, served on the student council, played
on the basketball team, and was involved in her church youth group.Continuing the family tradition, Becca's daughter, Carolyne,
started her showing career in 2010 as she exhibited her first market
hog. Ret is joining the fold as he participated in his first pig
show in January 2012.
After high school, Becca headed to Athens,
Georgia
to attend The University of Georgia where she majored in Agricultural
Communications.Her
commitment to volunteering continued as she served as an Ag Ambassador,
on the Ag Hill Council, and as a College Senator in the Student
Government Association.She
was an active member of Zeta Tau Alpha were she was the Assistant Ritual
Chairman and House Manager.
In addition, Becca was an AGHON member and was selected to be in the
Blue Key Honor Society.In
2000, she worked with the National Block and Bridle Convention hosted by
UGA as the Public Relations Chairman.Even with a busy schedule, Becca babysat for two small children
during her college career, as well as worked for the UGA Animal Science
Department as the Editor of the Georgia Junior National Show Catalog and
with the Georgia FFA Association as the Web Page Editor and National
Publication Insert Designer.
Becca worked with Dow AgroSciences as an intern in Alabama and North
Carolina for two consecutive summers between semesters.
Upon graduation, Becca returned to Bainbridge to manage Project Updraft,
a pilot grant program at BainbridgeCollege.At the conclusion of the pilot, she returned to Athens to pursue a Masters in Mass
Communication with a focus in Non-Profit management.While obtaining her Masters Degree, she worked for the
JamesM.CoxCenter for International
Mass Communication Training and Research as a Research Assistant.
Richie and Becca married on August 24, 2002.Becca became the Executive Director of the
ColquittCountyArtsCenter where she worked
for four years.While there
she contributed to the organization in countless ways including
initiating the Colquitt County Chapter of the National League of Junior
Cotillions, serving on the Georgia Assembly of Community Arts Agencies
Board of Directors, and working with the Georgia Council for the Arts as
a Grants Review Panelist.
While in Moultrie, Becca has been involved with
Communities in Schools as a Board Member and Elementary Mentor and the
Moultrie-Colquitt County Chamber of Commerce as a Board Member.In addition, she is a member of the Moultrie Service League, an
organization committed to the betterment of the ColquittCountyArtsCenter.While in the Service League, she has served as Treasurer, President, and is
currently serving as Ex-Officio.
Becca is also a past member of the Moultrie Junior Woman's Club having
served a 6-year term. She served as Treasurer and Recording
Secretary while in the Woman's Club. As previously
mentioned, Becca's family is an active part of the First United
Methodist Church of Moultrie where she is involved as a Sunday School
Teacher and previously served as the Church Communications Coordinator
and as a member of the Board of Stewards.
