Links Donaldson AwardGeorge P. Donaldson AwardThe George P. Donaldson Award is presented by the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College Alumni Association with funding from the ABAC Ag Alumni Council to the most outstanding graduate in both the fall and spring graduations. The award recognizes students who have distinguished themselves through scholarship, leadership and citizenship. The award includes an impressive plaque. The award was first presented in 1962 in honor of Dr. George P. "Pete" Donaldson upon his retirement as president of the college. "Mr. Pete," as he was affectionately known by those who knew and loved him, believed that a student should be well-rounded and always encouraged students to be their very best. For twenty-eight years he exemplified what this award seeks to recognize--scholarship, leadership and service. 1. The applicant must have a cumulative institutional grade point average of 3.0 or higher and have demonstrated leadership and citizenship through a variety of campus activities. 2. The applicant must be participating in the graduation ceremony for which he/she has been nominated. Summer graduates should be participating in the fall graduation. 3. A completed Statement of Activities form and Resume must be submitted by qualified applicants and received by Amy P. Willis at ABAC Box 31 or Conger Hall 207 by 5 p.m. on Monday, April 12. 4. Three letters of recommendation (details in the Statement of Activities form) must accompany the Statement of Activities and Resume. 5. The Selection Committee will interview applicants individually. Communication with each applicant will occur to establish the date/time of the interview. 6. The applicant must exhibit good citizenship and be in good standing with the student judiciary. The awards will be presented at the college's graduation ceremony held in December and May. See Upcoming graduation dates.
