- chronic talking in class
- chronic tardiness
- use of foul language or racial slurs

- childish imitations of animals:  coondogs, turkeys, etc.
- horseplay or other juvenile behavior
- attending lecture, "blowing off" labs
- taking cell phone calls in lecture OR lab
- sleeping/napping
- complaining about field conditions (heat, rain, etc.), esp. when inappropriately attired
- perception that academic challenge is being "picked upon"
- perception that personal choices and responsibilities (work, children, debt payments) can be excuses
for shoddy and irresponsible academic work

IF/WHEN all participation points are exhausted, then additional points will be deducted from the FINAL EXAM score.

THE BOTTOM LINE IS . . . APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR IS DETERMINED BY THE INSTRUCTOR, NOT THE STUDENT!
