College Algebra – Prerequisite: Exemption from or successful completion of MATH 0099 and READ 0099. Three hours of lecture each week. This course is a functional approach to algebra that incorporates the use of appropriate technology. Emphasis will be placed on the study of linear, quadratic, piece-wise defined, rational, polynomial, exponential and logarithmic functions, their graphs and applications. Fall, Spring, Summer. |

CALCULUS I – Prerequisite: Exemption from or successful completion of MATH 0099; and MATH 1112 or MATH 1113 with a grade of āCā or higher, or score on placement test. Four hours of lecture/demonstration each week. A first course in the techniques and theory of the calculus. Topics include: limits, continuity, differentiation and integration, applications of the derivative and the integral. Fall, Spring, Summer as needed. |

Quantiative Reasoning -Prerequisite: Exemption from or successful completion of MATH 0099 and READ 0099. Three hours of lecture each week. This course is an alternative in Area A of the Core Curriculum and is not intended to supply sufficient algebraic background for students who intend to take Pre-calculus of the Calculus sequences for mathematics and science majors. This course places quantitative skills and reasoning in the context of experiences that students will be likely to encounter. It emphasizes processing information in context from a variety of representations, understanding of both the information and the processing, and understanding which conclusions can be reasonably determined. Topics include sets and set operations, logic, basic probability, data analysis, and algebraic modeling from data (including linear, quadratic, exponential and logarithmic models). Fall, Spring, Summer as needed. |
