Dr. Giles has been teaching college writing and literature classes since 1991 and has been at ABAC since 1997. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Southeastern Writers Association. She writes fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and scholarship, and has had work published in such journals and anthologies as Rose Red Review, Wilderness House Literary Review, The Southeast Review, Creative Writing Pedagogies for the Twenty-First Century, Writing Spaces, The AWP Pedagogy Papers, On Writing: A Process Reader, and Feeling Our Way: a Writing Teacher’s Sourcebook. She has presented at the Association of Writers and Writing Programs Conference (AWP), the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC), as well as other writing and teaching conferences. She also served as a Teacher-Consultant for the Blackwater Writing Project, a unit of the National Writing Project out of Valdosta State University, and as a faculty advisor for ABAC’s college literary magazine Pegasus.
