Dr. Ryan Voris is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, GA.  Prior to arriving at ABAC Dr. Voris was completing his Ph.D. in American Political Behavior at the University of Kentucky (UK) in Lexington, KY. His dissertation focused on how voter photo ID requirements impact the American political system, focusing on how these laws may increase voter turnout as the Democratic Party and its allies attempt to mobilize voters thought to be negatively impact by these requirements.  Dr. Voris’ research interests include political parties, campaigns and elections, election law, and survey research.  Currently he is working on several research projects that explore how access to photo ID impacts voting across the United States and how election reforms impact individual perceptions of election fairness.  Before completing his Ph.D. Dr. Voris earned a M.A. in American Politics from Ball State University in Muncie, IN.  While at Ball State he conducted research on early voting procedures and his Master’s Thesis studied how the adopted of early voting in Ohio impacted voter turnout in subsequent elections.  Dr. Voris completed his Bachelors in History & Political Science at Cedarville University in Cedarville, OH.

Currently, Dr. Voris works teaching POLS 1101 American Government at ABAC.  He is looking forwarding to teaching on State and Local Government in the Spring as well as on Political Communication and elections in the future. While at UK Dr. Voris taught upper division courses on the U.S. Congress and American Presidency.

Dr. Voris currently live in the Tifton area with his wife, Amanda, and daughter Aliza Mae. When not teaching he enjoys spending time with family, watching movies, and reading.  While they are all new to the South everyone is enjoying getting to know Tifton and Southern Georgia and slowly adapting to the heat.
