Convert Works to Word 2002/XP

  1. Open Microsoft Word
  2. File [menu]
  3. New [submenu]
  4. On my Computer [link in task pane on right side of Word 2003 -- see image below]
  5. OR General templates [link in task pane on right side of Word 2002/XP -- see image below]
  6. Other Documents [tab]
  7. Batch Conversion Wizard [icon]
  8. OK [button]
  9. Next [button]
  10. Select the version of Works: Convert from another format to Word [top pull-down]
  11. If you are not sure, try each one: Works 2000, Works 4.0 for Windows
  12. Next [button]
  13. Source Folder: Browse [button] to set the location of the Works documents
  14. Destination Folder: Browse [button] to set the location for the converted Word documents
  15. Available: Select All [button] to select all Works documents to convert
  16. To Convert: Shows converted Word documents
  17. Next [button]
  18. Finish [button]
  19. Yes/No [button]: Batch Conversion is completed. Would you like to convert another?
  20. Open the converted Word document

For future documents created with Works, save documents in Word format

  1. Open Works and the document to convert to Word
  2. File [menu]
  3. Save As
  4. Save as Type: Select a version of Word [pull-down]
  5. Save [button]
