Acknowledging the = fact that=20 exposure to any mass of knowledge is prerequisite to learning that = knowledge,=20 regular attendance is required for successful completion of the = course=20 requirements. Instruction = and=20 information within the classroom is unique and is generally difficult to = obtain=20 and/or unavailable outside of the classroom in original form. Therefore, regular attendance = will=20 ensure that students receive the most appropriate instruction and timely = information regarding any course modifications, announcements, etc. It is the student=92s = responsibility to=20 contact the instructor prior to any anticipated absence or immediately = after = an=20 unanticipated one (during the next regularly scheduled class which the = student=20 attends). The = instructor will=20 read the class roll or circulate a sign-in sheet at the beginning of = class. Any student arriving after the = class=20 roll has been recorded will be marked absent. In addition, any student who = misses more=20 than four classes may receive a final class grade of = =93F.=94 Students who miss more than = six classes=20 may withdraw from the class without penalty prior to the drop without = penalty=20 date (March 2, = 2011).

IV. =20 Withdrawls/Dropping Class

The last day that a student may withdraw from a = course=20 without penalty is March 2, = 2011. After this = date, a=20 student withdrawing from class will receive a WF. Any student who does not = officially=20 withdraw from class will receive a final course grade of =93F.=94 Please refer to the current = online=20 Abraham Baldwin College Catalog for specific details concerning the = policy on=20 withdrawing from a course.

V. =20 Academic Dishonesty

The=20 College-wide policy regarding academic dishonesty is described in the = current=20 online Abraham Baldwin College Catalog. =20 For purposes of this course, a zero-tolerance policy regarding = all forms=20 of academic dishonesty will be strictly followed.

On the day of each = scheduled=20 classroom examination, each student will submit complete responses to = all=20 CHECKPOINT questions associated with all of the Chapters covered by that = examination. In order to = receive=20 credit, responses must be submitted at the beginning of the class or = examination=20 period; must be typed; and must follow the format described by the = instructor (a=20 handout will be distributed). =20 Grades for each assignment (a total of four) will consist of 10, = 5 or 0=20 points. Each assignment = will be=20 graded as follows:

&nbs= p; =20 All questions are answered; responses are full and complete and = represent=20 a satisfactory attempt to answer the questions. In

Each classroom = examination=20 will consist of 50 multiple choice questions. All questions will be = reflective of the=20 material covered within the classroom and/or textbook chapters. In addition, the questions may = be=20 similar or identical to the practice exams that have been circulated in = the=20 past; similar or identical to other sources of sample questions such as = the=20 internet or textbook; or they may be different questions that are = directly=20 related to the material within the individual chapters. Furthermore, the wording of = the=20 examination questions may or may not consist of exact or specific words = from the=20 classroom or the textbook that can be directly memorized by the use of = rote=20 memory techniques. = Students are=20 responsible for all factual material and the application of the factual = material=20 covered within the classroom and/or written in the textbook. Examination questions may = assess both=20 factual and/or applied knowledge.

The=20 final examination will consist of 100 multiple choice questions. The examination will be = cumulative and=20 comprehensive and will assess each student=92s basic understanding of = anatomy and=20 physiology principles. = Similar to=20 the four classroom examinations, questions may be similar or identical = to the=20 practice exams that have been circulated in the past; similar or = identical to=20 other sources of sample questions such as the internet or textbook; = similar or=20 identical to the multiple choice questions on the four classroom = examinations;=20 or they may be different questions that are directly related to the = material=20 within the individual chapters.

Assignments and/or = Pop=20 Quizzes may be periodically assigned and/or administered by the = instructor=20 throughout the Semester. = Scores=20

from assignments = and/or pop=20 quizzes will be factored into each student=92s final course grade as a = percentage=20 of the overall total (not to

exceed 10% of the final = course=20 grade).

Notes:

1. &nbs= p;=20 All assignments will be due at the time/date specified by the=20 instructor. Assignments = will not be=20 accepted after this time/date for any reason.

2. &nbs= p;=20 Pop quizzes must be completed during the time allocated by the=20 instructor. Any student = arriving=20 late will only have the time remaining to complete his or her quiz and = no=20 quizzes may be taken after the allotted time = period.

3. &nbs= p;=20 In the event that a student=92s final class percentage is close = to but=20 falls short of the next highest grade category, the instructor will = consider=20 such factors as classroom and/or laboratory attendance, classroom and/or = laboratory preparation and participation, satisfactory completion of all = relevant sections of Laboratory Exercises in Anatomy and = Physiology, etc.=20 in determining the final class grade. =20 A student=92s final letter grade will only be elevated if his = or her=20 final class percentage is within one point of the next highest = grade=20 category.

4. &nbs= p;=20 Make-up examinations will not be given. Any student who misses an = examination=20 should notify the instructor prior to the next regularly scheduled class = which=20 he or she attends. If the = student=20 has an appropriate reason for missing the examination, then he or she = will be=20 allowed to substitute the percentage score on the final examination for = the=20 missed examination. = Substitution=20 will only be allowed for one missed examination.

School of Science and Mathematics = Policies

1. Cell phones, pagers and all = other=20 electronic communication devices must be turned off during each class=20

or laboratory session.

2. Students enrolled in classes = in the=20 School of Science and Mathematics will be expected to demonstrate an=20 understanding of subject

matter requiring higher order processing = skills. Examination questions may take = the form=20 of essay (synthesis, analysis or

application), as well as completion, multiple = choice,=20 true/false and matching. = In=20 addition, computation skills and drawing or

diagramming may be required.
