Procedure to Request Substitution of Course Requirement
1. Register with the Student Development Center by following appropriate Student Development Center procedures.
2. Inform Ms. Annie Sims of your intent to pursue a substitution for a course requirement.
3. Provide appropriate documentation to the Student Development Center to support this request.
4. Send letter to your Division Chair requesting a substitution for a specific course requirement (i.e. foreign language requirement).
5. If substitution is approved by the Division Chair, contact the Division Chair to determine which class(es) will be accepted as an appropriate substitution for that requirement.
Note: For Foreign Language requirement, begin with a list of substitute courses provided by the Humanities Division and confirm with the College Registrar.
6. Notify your academic advisor of the course requirement substitution.
Student Development Center Responsibilities:
1. Review and staff documentation provided by the student to determine if the request for a substitution of a course requirement is supported by the Student Development Center.
2. If the Student Development Center supports the request, the Student Development Center will send letter of support to the Division Chair or Division in which the student is enrolled.
Note: The substitution cannot constitute a substantial change in an essential element of the student’s curriculum. This will be determined in consultation with the Division Chair in which the student is enrolled and the College Registrar.
