Classroom Relocation Procedure

Students with limited mobility at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College can be provided with the opportunity to take advantage of priority pre-registration when the service is prearranged. This gives students the opportunity to pre-plan their accessible routes to class as well as arrange for transportation services.

It is strongly recommended that students utilize priority pre-registration so that every effort can be made to ensure that the appropriate accommodations are provided. Students who do not take advantage of priority registration or rearrange their classes during drop/add time cannot be guaranteed that their classrooms will be accessible.

Procedures for Moving Class to an Accessible Location

Student Responsibilities:

Register with the Student Development Center by following appropriate Student Development Center procedures, including providing approved documentation to verify disability and validate need for moving a class to an accessible location.

Make an early appointment to be advised by your assigned Academic Advisor.

Review your schedule with a Student Development Center staff member to determine which classes might need to be relocated.

Register through BANNER during the priority pre-registration time period after meeting with your Academic Advisor.

Note: This often may require a visit to the facility because some facilities that are accessible to one person may not be accessible to another.

Provide copy of course schedule to the Student Development Center at least four weeks before semester begins.

Inform the Student Development Center of any classes that need to be relocated.

Immediately inform the Student Development Center of any changes in your class schedule or problems with classroom accessibility.

Student Development Center Responsibilities:

1.      A member of Student Development Center staff will present the student’s need for a relocation of classroom request based on appropriate documentation to the Division Secretary.

2.      The respective departments will relocate the class to an accessible location.

3.      If the department is unable to relocate the class, then the Student Development Center will work with the Division to try and find an accessible location.

4.      If relocation cannot be achieved due to size of class or other extraneous factors, then alternative solutions will be discussed.

5.      The Student Development Center will work jointly with department heads to explore alternative accommodations.

6.      The Student Development Center will notify student of new location for class or discuss alternative solutions with the student.
