Students enrolled in undergraduate degree programs leading to the baccalaureate degree and certain Technology Program degrees shall pass the Regents’ Reading Skills and Regents Writing/Essay Skills Test as a requirement for graduation. The Regents’ Test, both Reading and Essay, must be taken during the first semester the student is enrolled in English 1101.

Certain SAT and/or ACT scores may exempt students from the Test. For information visit Visit our FAQs.

If either or both parts of the Test is not passed on the second attempt, the appropriate remediation course must be taken and passed before retaking that part of the Test. Failure to take the test when required will count as an unsuccessful attempt.
