Saving PowerPoint Presentations for Students' Web Use

Open PowerPoint (PPT) Presentation
File [menu]
Save as Web Page [submenu]
Provide an acceptable "Page Title" using Change Title [button]-- displays in title bar and prints
Select "web drive (aka mapped drive)" as the drive location
Select any folders as needed for the location of the file
Provide an acceptable filename
Leave the Save as File Type as "Web Page"
Save [button]
Save PowerPoint (PPT) Presentation as Web
Slide Presentation (HTM)
excluding Speaker Notes
Open PowerPoint (PPT) Presentation
File [menu]
Save as Web Page [submenu]
Publish [button]
Unselect "Display Speaker Notes"
Provide an acceptable "Page Title" using Change [button]-- displays in title bar and prints
Select "web drive (aka mapped drive)" as the drive location
Select any folders as needed for the location of the file
Provide an acceptable filename
Publish [button]

Printable Presentation (PDF)
Handouts 1, 2, 3, 6, 9 slides per page; Outline; Notes Pages; Slides
Install free PDF converter

Open PowerPoint (PPT) Presentation

Print [submenu]
Select "PDF995" or "CutePDF" as the printer name
Select Print What: "Handouts" or "Outline" or "Notes Page" or "Slides"
For Handouts, Select Number of Slides per Page: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 9
OK [button]
Select "web drive (aka mapped drive)" as the drive location
Select any folders needed for the location of the file
Provide an acceptable filename
Leave the Save as File Type as "PDF"
Save [button]
Save Outline from PowerPoint (PPT) Presentation as Web
Page (HTM)
excluding Speaker Notes
Open PowerPoint (PPT) Presentation

Send To [submenu]
Microsoft Office Word [side menu]
Outline only [radio button]

Microsoft Word opens displaying your Outline. The following steps are in Microsoft Word

Save As

Save As Type: Web Page (*.htm, *.html) [button]

Note: Formatting isn't "pretty."
Note: Handouts, Outline, Note Pages, and Slides can be "printed" to PDF in color, grayscale, or pure black and white. I recommend grayscale.
Students will need to
download Adobe
Acrobat Reader free to open PDF
files.
