Kristen Card, Whitney Conner, and Shwana King will compete for Ms. ABAC 2009 on Nov. 11

 

CORDELE STUDENTS TO COMPETE IN MS. ABAC NOVEMBER 11

 

TIFTON— Whitney Conner of Abbeville and Tanya Card and Shwana King of Cordele will compete for the title of Ms. ABAC at the 40th annual Ms. ABAC contest on Nov. 11 at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

Conner is an agri-business major sponsored by the ABAC Agri-Business Club. Card and King are both pre-medicine majors. Card is sponsored by the Residence Hall Association, and King is sponsored by the Student Support Leadership Club.

            The event is sponsored by the Student Government Association.  It begins at 7 p.m. in ABAC’s Howard Auditorium. Admission is $4 in advance and $5 at the door.  Because of limited seating, the purchase of advance tickets is encouraged.  These tickets can be purchased on the first floor of Gressette Gym in the Health, Physical Education, and Recreation division office.

Contestants are sponsored by campus groups, including clubs, athletic teams, and student media. Participants will compete in casual and evening wear. They will also be judged on a written essay and an interview with the judges.

ABAC Director of Public Relations Mike Chason will serve as master of ceremonies. Andrea Willis, chair of the Division of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation, directs the event. Ashley Brown, Ms. ABAC 2008, will crown the winner.
