PADGETT SELECTED AS FOURTH RUNNER-UP IN MS. ABAC 2009

TIFTON—Jessica Padgett of Sylvester was selected as the fourth runner-up in the 40th annual Ms. ABAC event at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Twenty-nine ABAC students participated in the pageant, which was sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA).

Padgett is an agricultural communications/mass media major. At ABAC, she is a member of the National FFA Organization, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, and a disc jockey for ABAC’s radio station, WPLH. Padgett was sponsored by the FFA. She is the daughter of Ray and Betty Moeller and the late Joe Padgett. She was also the winner of the essay portion of the competition.

Keegan Westberry, an early childhood education major from Brunswick, was selected as Ms. ABAC 2009. Other finalists were Melissa McGill, first runner-up, a fashion merchandising major from Tifton; Kristy Card, second runner-up, a pre-medicine major from Cordele; and Jacklyn Kerch, third runner-up, an animal science major from Stone Mountain.

The Contestant’s Award went to Kristen Shipps, an agricultural communications major from Nokomis, Fla., and McGill won the Interview Competition award.

Contestants were sponsored by campus groups, including clubs, residence halls, athletic teams, and student media.
