CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION CONCERT ON FEBRUARY 20 AT ABAC

TIFTON - Music for every generation will be on display at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on Feb. 20 when the ABAC music program presents “100 Years of Musical Memories” as a part of the Centennial Celebration Week.  Open to the public at no charge, the concert will begin at 7 p.m. in Gressette Gym.

“There will be something for everyone to enjoy,” ABAC music program director Don Coates said.  “We invite everyone to help us celebrate our musical heritage as we celebrate the 100th year of ABAC,”

Coates said the ABAC performing groups will include the concert band, concert choir, jazz band, jazz choir and a special performance by a brand new Dixieland group called the “Dixie Stallions.”  Music will range from Ragtime, Dixieland, 40’s through the 90’s and even an original Hip Hop and Rap composition by ABAC students to represent the 21st Century.

After the concert, a gigantic fireworks show will be held at Lake Baldwin beginning at 9 p.m.   Other events during the day include a 10:30 a.m. presentation in Howard Auditorium featuring a look at ABAC over the past 100 years and ABAC President David Bridges speaking on “A Look Back and A Look Ahead.”

Entertainment for all ages is set for the front campus on Feb. 20 with a hot air balloon, a mentalist, games, inflatables and more.  For more information on the Centennial Celebration week activities, interested persons can call (229) 391-5055.
