ABAC BASKETBALL MOONLIGHT MANIA OCTOBER 25

TIFTON – Basketball season will get an early start at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on Thursday when the annual Moonlight Mania celebration takes place at 8 p.m. at Gressette Gym. Basketball coaches Julie Conner and Todd Sheppard are sponsoring the eighth annual faculty/staff versus students basketball game, and fans will also get their first look at this year’s ABAC basketball teams.

The faculty/staff team will take on the students at 8 p.m. The student team will be coached by Willie Dean, Student Government Association President, and the faculty will be led by Dr. Jeff Gibbs, chair of the business division.

The evening will also include the famous Coach Potato basketball shootout where students shoot baskets while sitting in a chair, and the student who hits the most shots takes it home. The Cash Crawl features a blindfolded student scrambling around the gym floor picking up as many dollar bills as he can round up.

The ABAC Ambassadors will also be on hand for Half Court for $100 where a spectator gets to shoot one shot from half court to win $100.

The 2007-08 Stallions and Fillies will be introduced, and the teams will engage in intra-squad scrimmages for 15 minutes each. The Fillies will take the floor at 8:25 p.m. and the Stallions will make their 2007 début at 9 p.m.

The brand new 2007 ABAC cheerleaders will also show their ABAC spirit through cheers and dancing at 8:50 p.m. After their performances, the cheerleaders will be introduced by sponsor Elizabeth Wilcox.

The event is open to anyone who would like to attend at no charge.
