ENTERING FRESHMEN GET FIXED TUITION FOR THREE YEARS

TIFTON Georgia residents attending college for the first time will pay $1,187 in tuition and fees per semester for 12 or more credit hours for the 2007 fall term at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.  Those who are out-of-state will pay $3,995 per semester.

Under the University System of Georgia’s fixed tuition plan, the ABAC tuition rate for this year’s freshmen will remain the same for three years.

Those who need assistance paying for their college education can still apply for financial aid for the fall term. The deadline for all financial aid applications for fall term is July 15. After that date, students must be prepared to pay initially and be reimbursed for the aid that they qualify for at a later date. For additional information, contact the Financial Aid Office at (229) 391-4910.

Student suites for ABAC Lakeside, the brand new freshmen-only, 489-bed complex on the north shore of Lake Baldwin, are priced at $1,925 per semester for two-person suites where each occupant has a private bedroom and $1,650 per semester for four-person suites where occupants share a bedroom.

Sophomores can stay at the 835-bed ABAC Place apartment complex in the center of campus where each student has a private room at a cost of $2,270 per semester for a four-bedroom, two-bath apartment.   Prices include all utilities.

All first year students at ABAC must live on campus unless they are living with and commuting daily from the legal residence of a parent, legal guardian, or grandparent within 50 miles of Tifton.  Other exceptions to the rule exempt students if they are married, a single parent, 21 years of age prior to Sept. 1, or they have attended another college for a minimum of two semesters.

Anyone living on campus must also purchase a meal plan in the Donaldson Dining Hall each semester.  Freshmen living on campus must purchase a meal plan with a minimum cost of $975.  Sophomores living on campus at ABAC Place must purchase a meal plan at a minimum cost of $325.

The meal plan can be used at the dining hall and the John Hunt Town Center convenience store.   For more information, contact the admissions office at (229) 391-5001 or the student housing office at (229) 391-5140.

Fall semester classes at ABAC begin Aug. 20.
