DOLLARS WILL BE A FEAST FOR THE EARS AND APPETITE

TIFTON—This year’s Dollars for ABAC Scholars benefit featuring Amy Grant on June 15 will not only please the ears, but the palette as well.

Betty McCorvey, assistant director of development at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, said the meal prepared by Sodexho Food Services at ABAC promises to be one of the best ever for the ABAC Foundation sponsored event.

“The dinner for this event will be as appealing as the performance,” McCorvey said.   “An array of salads will open the meal, including garden salad with sweet vinaigrette; herbed fingerling potato salad with bacon, mustard, and shallots; and fresh fruit salad with champagne vinaigrette.”

Diners can choose from main courses of sautéed shrimp in white wine and shallots over coarse grits, chicken piccata in a light lemon sauce with capers, or a spiced fillet of beef salad with snow peas and peppers with sweet chili sauce.  The entrees will be complimented by sides that will include steamed asparagus with brown butter, sorghum-glazed carrots, wild rice with almonds, and assorted LA Brea dinner rolls.

“The shrimp grits were delicious,” Bette Turner, chair of the ABAC Foundation Dollars for ABAC Scholars committee, said.  “I believe this will be one of the best meals for this event we have had in a long time.”

Those with a sweet tooth can sample     the Bourbon Street pecan pie, lemoncello tarts, and individual tiramisu for dessert.

Tickets are $125 per person for the pre-banquet meal and show.   Reserved tables for the meal, which include eight tickets together in a prime concert location, are $1,250. Concert tickets in the 2,000-seat auditorium without the meal are $75 each.

Platinum Scholarship sponsors for the event are the Ambling University Development Group, Ameris Bank, Pennington Lawn and Garden Products, and The Stafford Companies.  All proceeds benefit student scholarships at ABAC.

For more information on dinner or concert tickets, interested persons can call the ABAC Foundation office at (229) 391-4897 or visit the ABAC web site at www.abac.edu.
