TWENTY-TWO GRADUATE FROM 217th ABAC POLICE ACADEMY

TIFTON—Twenty-two individuals from the South Georgia area recently received certificates at graduation exercises for the 217th session of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC) Regional Police Academy at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

Academy Director Marty Smith said the Overall Achievement award for the session was awarded to Jeromy D. Jones of the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office. Jones also received first place in Academic Achievement and served as president of the 217th session. Second place in Academic Achievement went to James E. Champion of the Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office.

First place in Firearms was awarded to Andrew J. McDaniel of the Valdosta Police Department.  Second place went to Travis E. Hobby of the Tift County Sheriff’s Office.  

Other graduates included Jimmy R. Peeples of the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office; Russell W. Hand and Terry A. Pait of the Camilla Police Department; Chad D. Kimbrough and Levon Reives of the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office; Marvin T. Jennings and Charles D. Miller of the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office; Justin A. McCrimmon and Diana S. Newell of the Fitzgerald Police Department; and Michael T. Shrouder of the GPSTC – Tifton.

Also graduating were Jack H. Addison, Jr., and Katrina C. Johnson of the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office; Fernando U. Hernandez and Kimberly D. White of the Moultrie Police Department; Eric D. Butler of the Ocilla Police Department; and Brian E. Bass, Larry D. Nara, Jr., and Christopher L. Sumner of the Valdosta Police Department.

GPSTC Regional Police Academy regularly holds multi-week intensive training sessions designed to acquaint officers with state-of-the-art law enforcement techniques. The Academy operates in cooperation with the Division of Social Science at ABAC.
