ABAC SPRING TERM LOADED WITH ACTIVITIES

TIFTON—Spring semester classes at Abraham Baldwin College are underway, and students have a huge selection of activities to choose from when not in class.

The basketball Stallions and Fillies will play a handful of games this month. The Golden Stallions baseball team will play its first home game of the season on Jan. 28 against Lake City at 1 p.m.

Open Campus Day will kick off the events on tap for February. Open Campus Day will take place on Feb. 6 from 9 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.  That evening, the First Tuesday Concert Series will be held in the Chapel of All Faiths at 7 p.m.

On Feb. 7, the Fillies’ softball team will play its first home game against Brewton-Parker at 2 p.m.  Also on that day, the Stallions and Fillies’ tennis teams open their seasons at home against Freed Hardman at the Red Hill Tennis Complex at 1 p.m.

The 17th Annual Mr. ABAC contest will be held on Feb. 15 in the Donaldson Dining Hall at 7 p.m.  This event is sponsored by the Family and Consumer Sciences Club.

 On Feb. 16, ABAC will host the annual Science Fair for surrounding area middle schools in Thrash Gym. The Stafford Steinway Series will be held Feb. 19 with featured performer Myungsook Song Stoudenmire in Howard Auditorium at 7 p.m. Events for the month will wrap up with the annual Career Fair on Feb. 21 in Donaldson Dining Hall beginning at 11 a.m.

On March 1, advising for summer and fall classes begins.  The First Tuesday Concert Series will also take place on March 1 at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of All Faiths. On March 3, ABAC will host the Science Olympiad.

On March 13, those graduating from ABAC can attend the Graduation Finale in the Cordell Conference Room from 3 – 7 p.m. Representatives from Student and Enrollment Services, Alumni Relations, the ABAC Bookstore, and more will be on hand to help with any last-minute details before graduation day.

ABAC students will enjoy the spring break on March 19 – 23.  Classes will resume March 26. One of the biggest events of the year, Homecoming, will be held over a three-day span, March 29 – 31. This year ABAC will celebrate the beginning of the 100th birthday of the college.

On April 3, the First Tuesday Concert Series will feature the performers All That Jazz with Marlene and Company at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of All Faiths. The ABAC Band and Choir will perform their spring concert at 7:30 p.m. on April 10 in Howard Auditorium. The following day, ABAC students will be acknowledged for academic achievement at Honors Day on April 11 beginning at 11 a.m.

The Annual George Scott Day will be held on April 17 on the front lawn of the campus from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. George Scott Day will feature music, art, theater, poetry, and more. The Count Basie Orchestra will close the George Scott Day festivities by playing at 7 p.m. in Donaldson Dining Hall. The month will conclude on a musical note with the Spring Student Music Recital on April 26 in the Chapel of All Faiths at 5 p.m.

The end of the semester will draw to a close with finals week, May 1 – 4. Graduation ceremonies will take place on May 4 at 6 p.m. in Gressette Gym.
