FIRST TUESDAY CONCERT AT ABAC JANUARY 9

 

TIFTON – The First Tuesday Concert of the new year will take place at Abraham Baldwin College on Jan. 9 with a selection of Broadway standards. Ingrid Wingate, soprano; Travis Kern, baritone; Brian Marchant, baritone; Dana Taylor, soprano; Shawn Taylor, baritone; and Ron Lawhon, tenor will each be featured at the 7 p.m. performance in the Chapel of All Faiths. Accompanists will be Jane Tucker and Gina Lawhon on piano.

Tickets for the performance may be purchased at the door. The cost is $3 for adults and $1 for students. ABAC students are admitted free with ID. Patrons of the Arts and Entertainment Series can also attend at no charge.

Wingate will begin the concert with a selection of Broadway classics, including a piece from the hit musical, Chicago. Kern will follow with songs from the Broadway hits 1776 by Sherman Edwards and Camelot, composed by Lerner and Loewe.  

Marchant will perform pieces from Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Mikado and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel.  Dana Taylor will sing Think of Me and All I Ask of You from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, followed by Shawn Taylor performing Me from Beauty and the Beast.

The concert will conclude with Ron Lawhon’s performance of They Call the Wind Maria from Paint Your Wagon and If Ever I Would Leave You from Camelot.

The First Tuesday Concert Series takes place on the first Tuesday of each month. Dr. Susan Roe, assistant professor of voice at ABAC, coordinates the series. For more information, contact Roe at (229) 391-4943.
