Myungsook Song Stoudenmire

 

MYUNGSOOK SONG STOUDENMIRE TO PLAY AT STAFFORD SERIES

 

            TIFTON - The Stafford Steinway Series will showcase Dr. Myungsook Song Stoudenmire as the featured performer on Feb. 19 on the campus of Abraham Baldwin College.

The Stafford Series Concert will be held in Howard Auditorium at 7 p.m. This event is open to the community at no charge. A reception will be held following the performance.

Stoudenmire is a native of South Korea. She earned her Bachelor and Masters’ degrees in Music from Sungshin Women’s University in Seoul. She received her second Master’s degree in Music from Columbia College and her Doctorate of Musical Arts degree from the University of South Carolina

She debuted at the National Hall in Seoul. She also performed in Korea’s Hangran Music Festival, National Elite Bachelor’s Music Festival, National Elite Mater’s Music Festival, and as a soloist with the Sungshin Orchestra.

In the United States she has performed at the Brevard Music Center and the College Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati, where she completed a year of residency for her doctoral studies. She is currently adjunct professor of piano at Charleston Southern University. Her students have won major competitions at the local, state, and regional levels.

The Stafford Family, through the Stafford Foundation, donated a Steinway piano to ABAC in March of 2004 to be used in Howard Auditorium. The Steinway is a 150th Anniversary Edition nine-foot D.
