SYLVANIA FORESTRY MAJOR NAMED MR. ABAC 2007

 

         TIFTON - Jason Bland, a forestry major from Sylvania, won the Mr. ABAC title at the 17th annual contest held Thursday night in the Donaldson Dining Hall.   Bland was sponsored by the Forestry and Wildlife Club.

         Other finalists were Carson Barnett, a pre-dentistry major from Elberton; Jaime Brannen, an agriculture transfer major from Statesboro; Jeremy Register, a forestry transfer major from Homerville; and Patrick Tully, a turf management major from Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.

         Bland also received the Essay Award, and Brannen was awarded the Contestants’ Award.  Ben Howard from Tifton won the Essay Award.

         The Mr. ABAC Contest was sponsored, produced, and directed by the Family and Consumer Sciences Club. Darby Sewell serves as advisor to the group.

         Dotty Davis and John Baldwin were emcees for the evening.  ABAC student Kimberly Goodman from Cordele provided entertainment for the event. 

         Former Mr. ABAC Elton Baldy served as auctioneer for the Date Night Auction of the contestants. 

         Some of the “fun” awards presented at the event were “Best Eyes” to Lee Busbee, “Best Hair” to Sam Burgess, and “Most Likely to Impersonate Elvis” to Ben Howard.
