ABAC Ag Classic Winners Announced

 

            TIFTON - Six teams finished in the money at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College’s 6th Annual ABAC Ag Classic Golf Tournament held at Forest Lakes Golf Course in Tifton.

            In the morning flight, earning the first place prize of $600 was the team consisting of Chris Baker of Quitman and Jeremy Harvey of Alpharetta, representing Innovative Turf Products; Tony Tucker of Irwin EMC, Ocilla; and Jimmy Felton of ABAC.  Finishing second and earning $400 were Darren Deal of Bainbridge and Jason Call of Valdosta, representing Seiger Seed; and Jay Jones of Naples, FL, representing Sakata Seed.  The third place prize of $200 went to the Irwin EMC team from Ocilla that included Randy Crenshaw, Mike Lewis, David Chaney and Ronnie Blackstock.

            Chris Baker of Innovative Turf Products and Bob Ragsdale from the Georgia Farm Bureau in Macon won the closest-to-the-pin contests.  Matt Sweat of Dublin, playing for AgGeorgia Farm Credit, won closest-to-the-line.

            In the afternoon flight, the Herring CPA Group from Tifton placed first.  The team consisted of Chad Carpenter, Ryan Moore, Chad Alexander and Clay Hoffman.  The second place winner was the BASF team from Sparks which included Scott Johns, Ron Mathis, Kyle Clark and Billy Molisee.  Third place went to Ricky Willis of Willis Signs and Graphics, Tifton; Talmadge Garrison, Dawsonville; Jud Williams of Meat and Deli Consulting, Inc., Lilburn; and Lamar Perry, Hoschton.

            Closest-to- the-pin winners were Tom Hamilton of Cal-Maine Foods in Shady Dale and Steve Janousek of ABAC, playing for the Batelle team.  Billy Molissee of BASF won closest-to-the-line.

            In the previous five years, the tournament has generated over $87,000 for scholarships for students in the Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources at ABAC.  Proceeds from this year’s tournament will bring the total to well over $100,000.  The tournament is sponsored by the ABAC Ag Alumni Council.
