SPEECH STUDENTS SHOWCASE TALENT

TIFTON- The top speaker from each of the Communications 1000 and 1100 classes participated in the recent Lew Akin Speech Showcase at Abraham Baldwin College. Fourteen students participated in the event.

The showcase is named for former ABAC professor Lew Akin and was established in 1969.   Akin served as division chair of Humanities from 1975-1991.

Those who participated were Josh Carter, a communications major from Waycross; Lacey Cawthon, an undeclared major from Perry; Nicky Cranford, a nursing major from Vienna; Michelle Eady, an early childhood education major from Nashville; Jessica Edenfield, a psychology major from Ocilla; Valerie Farmer, a nursing major from Moultrie; and Kayla Futch, a business administration major from Tifton.

Other participants included Felicia Hill, a criminal justice major from Lakeland; Amanda Lundy, a chemistry major from Fitzgerald; Stephanie Nichols, a biology major from Tifton; Tracey Ravenscraft, an agricultural education major from Acworth; Hayley Sheppard, an early childhood education major from Sylvania; Ashley Tucker, an Early Childhood Education major from Fitzgerald; and April Wright, a psychology major from Ocilla.
