SEARCH FOR ABAC PRESIDENT IN REGENTS’ HANDS
TIFTON—The Presidential Search and
Screening Committee will send three to five names of approved candidates in
unranked order to the Board of Regents of the University System this week as
the
Five candidates interviewed on campus over the past two weeks. After the interview process culminated, the search committee held two meetings to read comments from those attending the sessions and discuss the candidates. A special Regents Committee chaired by Regent Julie Hunt of Tifton will now meet to continue the interview process to choose the 10th president in the history of ABAC.
The presidential announcement is expected to take place in late April, and the president is expected to take office on or before July 1.
Candidates that interviewed for the position of president included Dr. Teresa Smith, Dr. Elazer Barnette, Dr. Cathy Rozmus, Dr. Amelia Pearson, and Dr. David Bridges.
The new president
will take the place of Mike Vollmer, who resigned from the post on Sept. 14,
2004 to become Commissioner of the Department of Technical and Adult Education
for the State of
