Dr. Amelia Pearson

PEARSON TO INTERVIEW FOR PRESIDENT AT ABAC MARCH 21

TIFTON Dr. Amelia Pearson will interview for the position of President at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on March 21.

Pearson has been with Central Alabama Community College in Alexander City, AL since 1982, where she began her career as a psychology instructor. She currently holds the position of Provost and Dean of Instruction for the institution.

Before joining the faculty of Central Alabama, she was a member of Auburn University’s staff. She began her career as the Chemistry Department’s temporary secretary and advanced to a position as a Psychometrist, Counselor, and Coordinator of Alumni Placement Services in the Office of Career Development Services.  Pearson also held Adjunct Instructor positions for Southern Union State Junior College in Opelika, AL and for Alexander City State Junior College.

She worked as a consultant to Russell Corporation in Alexander City and was a psychometric consultant to various school systems in the area.

 Pearson holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, with high honors from the University of Tennessee; a Master’s of Education in Counseling with Psychometric Certification from Auburn University; and a Doctorate in Education from Auburn University.

Pearson is one of five candidates interviewing on the ABAC campus. The other candidates include Dr. Elazer Barnette, a Protégé in the American Association of State Colleges and Universities’ Millennium Leadership Initiative at Middle Tennessee State University; Dr. David C. Bridges, Assistant Dean of the University of Georgia’s College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Tifton campus;  Dr. Cathy Rozmus, Vice President of Academic Affairs at Georgia Southwestern State University; and Dr. Teresa Smith, Senior Vice President of Administration at Piedmont (S.C.) Technical College.
