ABAC ON THE SQUARE
GROWING EVERY DAY

“We’re seeing more and more traditional age students as well as our non-traditional students,” ABAC on the Square Director Kay Powell said. “We need more space.”
That problem will be remedied soon. ABAC Development Director Melvin Merrill said the ABAC Foundation is putting together a renovation plan for another building on the square to give ABAC students extra classrooms.
Powell said over 400 students per semester have been enrolled at the existing location. That’s quite a change from the 40 students who began attending ABAC classes at the Moultrie-Colquitt County Public Library in 1987 under the leadership of Colquitt Countian Merle Baker.
“We have grown, and with the interest these classes are generating, I expect that we will continue to grow,” Powell said.

the 40 college transfer majors offered by the college. For students

In her time at ABAC on the Square, Powell has seen the addition of a small bookstore in the building as well as the availability of a wide variety of ABAC services including the library and student services.
