UNIVERSITY SYSTEM APPROVES PROMOTIONS FOR ABAC FACULTY

TIFTON--The Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia recently approved promotions for nine faculty members at Abraham Baldwin College effective Aug. 1, 2006.

Maria Cahill, Robert Carpenter, Tamara Dennis, Keith Perry, and Darby Sewell were promoted to the rank of assistant professor from instructor. Patricia Barber, Dr. Erin Campbell, Etta Lee, and Dr. Luke Vassiliou were promoted to the rank of associate professor from assistant professor.

            Cahill, who has been a faculty member at ABAC since 2003, teaches in the Division of Humanities. She received a B.S. degree in English from the University of Washington and an M.S. in English from Georgia Southern University.         

Carpenter, who began teaching in the Division of Humanities in 2003, earned his B.S. degree in Christian Thought from William Tyndale College and his M.S. in Spanish from Wayne State University.

Dennis, who has been a faculty member at ABAC since 2002, teaches in the Division of Nursing. She holds an A.S. degree in Nursing from ABAC; and her B.S.N. and M.S.N. in Nursing from Valdosta State University.

Perry has been a member of the Division of Humanities since 2003. He received his B.A. in Interpersonal Communication and his M.A. in Communication from the University of Central Florida.

Sewell has taught in the Division of Agriculture and Forest Resources since 2002. She received her A.S. in family and consumer sciences from ABAC; and her B.S. and M.Ed. in Family & Consumer Sciences Education from the University of Georgia.

            Barber, who has been an ABAC faculty member since 1980, teaches in the Division of Nursing. She earned her B.S. in Nursing from Georgia Southwestern College and her M.S.N. in Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia.

            Campbell has been a part of the ABAC faculty since 2000. She earned her A.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from St. Petersburg Junior College; her B.A. in English from the University of Tampa; her M.A. in English from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro; and her Ph.D. in English from the University of Mississippi.

            Lee, a member of the Division of Social Science since 1997, received her A.A.S. in Forestry and Ag Equipment Technology from ABAC; a B.S.Ed. in Middle Childhood Education and a M.Ed. in Counseling/Guidance from Valdosta State University.

            Vassiliou has been a member of the Division of Humanities since 2002. He earned his B.A. in English Literature and ESL Teaching from the University of Athens, Greece; an M.A. in Rhetoric and Literature from Illinois State University; and his Ph.D. in English from Louisiana State University.
