RECEPTION, INAUGURATION PLANNED FOR NEW ABAC PRESIDENT
TIFTON - A community reception on Aug.
16 and an inauguration/convocation on Aug. 25 will mark the beginning of the
presidency of Dr. David Bridges at
Bridges became the 10th president in the history of ABAC on July 1. A 1978 ABAC graduate, Bridges is the first alumnus ever to be selected as president.
A reception open to faculty, staff, students, and the community will be held from 4-5:30 p.m. on Aug. 16 in the Donaldson Dining Hall. Public Relations Director Mike Chason said the reception serves as an opportunity to meet the new president and his wife, Kim, who is also an ABAC alumna.
“It’s a terrific way to kick off the fall semester,” Chason said. “All of our faculty will be back on campus getting ready for the fall term, and the entire community can come out, meet the new president, and take a look at our campus which has undergone dramatic changes in the past few years.”
The 48-year-old Bridges will also be the guest of honor at a formal inauguration ceremony in Gressette Gym at 11:15 a.m. on Aug. 25. University System of Georgia Chancellor Erroll B. Davis, Jr., will be the guest speaker at the event, which will also serve as this year’s freshman convocation. This event is also open to the public.
