SIXTEEN GRADUATE FROM 210th ABAC POLICE ACADEMY

TIFTON—Sixteen individuals from the South Georgia area recently received certificates at graduation exercises for the 210th Session of the South Georgia Police Academy Basic Mandate Class at Abraham Baldwin College.

Academy Director Ray Saxon said the Overall Achievement award for the session was awarded to Thomas M. Goodwin, Jr., of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. Goodwin also received second place in Firearms and served as president of the class.

First place in Academic Achievement was awarded to Austin B. Cooper of Tifton; sponsored by the South Georgia Police Academy. Second place in Academic Achievement went to Selena R. Smith of the Valdosta Police Department. First place in Firearms went to Eric J. Rozier of the Albany Police Department.

Other graduates included Rico G. Potts of the Albany Police Department; Michael L. Cox of the Decatur Sheriff’s Office; William L. Bird from the Dougherty County District Attorney’s Office; Lynda K. Miller of the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office; Erik R. Kepshire from Evans, sponsored by the South Georgia Police Academy; Andrew R. Underwood of the Moultrie Police Department; and Rod T. Harris of Newnan, sponsored by the South Georgia Police Academy.

 Other graduates were Daniel G. Abair of the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office; Balmori A. Amaya and Freddy Amaya of the Tifton Police Department; and Brandon F. Goldman and Howard K. Kirkland of the Valdosta Police Department.

The South Georgia Police Academy regularly holds multi-week intensive training sessions designed to acquaint officers with state-of-the-art law enforcement techniques. The Academy operates in cooperation with the Division of Social Science at ABAC.
