FIRST TUESDAY CONCERT FEBRUARY 7 AT ABAC

 

TIFTONA variety of songs from Broadway musicals will be showcased at the First Tuesday Concert on Feb. 7 at Abraham Baldwin College. Featured performers are Robert Reid, tenor; Susan Jackson, soprano; Blane Jacobs, baritone; Marlene Bowen Thornton, mezzo-soprano; Wayne Jones, bass – baritone; Susan Spivey, piano; and Vann Thornton, piano.

Tickets for the performance may be purchased at the door. The cost is $3 for adults and $1 for students. ABAC students are admitted free with ID. Patrons of the Arts and Entertainment Series can also attend at no charge.

Reid will perform Empty Chairs at Empty Tables by Claude – Michel Schonberg from Les Miserables. He will also perform a piece from Rogers and Hammerstein’s My Fair Lady.

Jackson will sing a selection from another Rogers and Hammerstein classic, The King and I, followed by Rogers and Hart’s To Keep My Love Alive from A Connecticut Yankee and Victor Herbert’s Ah Sweet Mystery of Life from Naughty Marietta.

If Ever I Would Leave You, written by Lerner and Loewe for the musical production of Camelot, will be sung by Jacobs.  The Thorntons will perform Send in the Clowns from A Little Night Music, Come Rain or Come Shine from St. Louis Woman, and Every Time We Say Goodbye from Seven Lively Arts. The concert will conclude with Jones singing Reviewing the Situation from Oliver!

The First Tuesday Concert Series takes place on the first Tuesday of each month from September through April.  Dr. Susan Roe, assistant professor of voice at ABAC, coordinates the Series. For more information, contact Roe at (229) 391-4943.
