MR. ABAC TO BE SELECTED FEBRUARY 16

TIFTON—Twenty-four men attending Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College will compete for the title of Mr. ABAC in the 16th annual competition on Feb. 16. The theme for this year’s event is “Mr. ABAC Gone Wild – Safari Style.” Sponsored, produced, and directed by the Family and Consumer Sciences Club, the event will begin at 7 p.m. in the Donaldson Dining Hall. The cost is $3 for general admission.

Contestants are sponsored by campus clubs, athletic teams, residence halls, and student media. They will compete in casual attire, formal attire, and interview categories. Contestants will also be judged on a written timed essay. The top contestant will receive a plaque and a cash prize. A contestant’s, interview, and essay award will be given. The Family and Consumer Sciences Club members will also choose “Mr. Photogenic,” “Best Eyes,” “Best Smile,” and other awards.

            Dotty Davis, from K-Country 104.5, and John Baldwin will emcee the event. Entertainment will be provided by Hannah Dasher, a liberal arts major from Springfield. Last year’s winner was Elton Baldy, an agriculture education major from Norman Park.

            Students involved in this year’s competition include Steven Alamo, a business administration major from Caracas, Venezuela.; Adam Arnold, an agriculture transfer major from Nicholson; Eric Boatwright, an animal science major from Franklin, NC; Sam Burgess, a landscape and design management major from Resaca; Ross Cargle, a special education major from Tifton;  Chris Carlisle, a wildlife technology major from Dahlonega; Jason Chapman, an animal science major from Washington.; Trey Davis, an agricultural business major from Doerun; Russell Epps, a wildlife technology major from Arnoldsville; Richard Gordon, an agricultural engineering technology major from Fort Valley; Justin Grimsley, an agriculture education major from Box Springs; MJay Hall,  a business administration major from Tifton; Josh Harrell, a music major from Tifton; and Allen Nasworthy, a pre-veterinary major from Midville.


            Also competing are Ricardo Norwood, an occupational therapy major from Valdosta; Ernesto Ortiz, a political science/pre-law major from Tifton; Seth Robinson, an agriculture education major from Winterville; Jared Ross, a business administration major from Tifton; Ruben Rubio, a business administration major from Dalton; Josh Seehorn, a wildlife biology major from Rabun Gap; Justin Shealey, an agriculture education major from Adel; James Stevens, III, a history major from Sycamore; Stephen Stokes, a golf turf management major from Macon; and Neal Torley, IV, a landscape design major from Orange Park, Fla.
