ABAC

STUDENT, PROFESSOR NAMED TO GA COLLEGIATE HONORS COUNCIL
TIFTON— Dr. Luke Vassiliou, assistant professor of English and Director of the
Honors program at
Smith was elected Student Vice President of the
Georgia Collegiate Honors Council. This is the highest student office in the
state organization, and the first time an ABAC student has held the position. Smith
has already shown her commitment to service through her work as an ABAC
Ambassador.
Vassiliou was elected Faculty Vice President of the
State Council, and his duties include organizing next year’s conference theme
and presentations schedule. Smith and Vassiliou are part of the Council’s executive
board for the upcoming year as well.
Freshmen honor
students Rebekah Fox and Chivaun Perez also presented research
with Smith to other Honors program students from colleges around the state. Fox
is a foreign language major from Tifton and Perez is an English major
from Nahunta. The students’ participation in the conference was made possible
by the generous ABAC Foundation funding of Honors Program activities.
