SIXTEEN GRADUATE FROM 214th ABAC POLICE ACADEMY

TIFTON—Sixteen individuals from the South Georgia area recently received certificates at graduation exercises for the 214th session of the South Georgia Police Academy Basic Mandate Class at Abraham Baldwin College.

Academy Director Ray Saxon said the Overall Achievement award for the session was awarded to Jamie K. Boatright of the Jeff Davis Sheriff’s Office. Boatright also received first place in Academic Achievement. Second place in Academic Achievement went to Daniel W. Muntz of the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office.

First place in Firearms was awarded to Kristan M. Herrick of the Cordele Police Department, with second place received by Joshua K. Taylor of the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. The president of the 214th session was Jeffrey A. Wessel of the Department of Corrections in Macon.

 Other graduates included Calandra N. Bell and Derry W. Monroe, Jr., of the Albany Police Department; Justin W. Itson of Camilla; David C. Haas of the Cordele Police Department; Joshua L. Haselden of Douglas, sponsored by the South Georgia Police Academy; Brian R. King of the Homerville Police Department; Draygo T. Evans of the McRae Police Department; and Thomas S. Frye, Jr. of the Norman Park Police Department.

Andre’ T. Calhoun and Jared H. Evans of the Pelham Police Department and Ray A. Willis of the Sylvester Police Department also graduated from the 214th session.

 The South Georgia Police Academy regularly holds multi-week intensive training sessions designed to acquaint officers with state-of-the-art law enforcement techniques. The Academy operates in cooperation with the Division of Social Science at ABAC.
