FIRST TUESDAY CONCERT APRIL 4 AT ABAC

 

TIFTON – The First Tuesday Concert on April 4 at Abraham Baldwin College will feature flutists Sheri Wyles Grabowski and Lesli Belflower Holton; pianist Gina Lawhon; and percussionist Andrew C. Bell.

The ABAC Woodwind Quartet comprised of Eugene Wyles, soprano saxophone; Johnny Hillman, alto saxophone; Lucy Taylor, tenor saxophone, and Justin Brantley, baritone saxophone; will also be featured in this performance.

The performance will begin at 7 p.m. at the Chapel of All Faiths. Tickets for the performance may be purchased at the door. The cost is $3 for adults and $1 for students. ABAC students are admitted free with ID. Patrons of the Arts and Entertainment Series can also attend at no charge.

Grabowski and Holton will play Duet No. 1 from Six Melodic Duets, Op. 45 by G. Gariboldi and Largo and Allegro composed by Georg Philip Telemann, accompanied by Lawhon on piano. Grabowski will also perform the piece Romance, Op. 41 by Georges Brun.

Bell will play the marimba and the timpani in the three pieces for the concert. He will begin with Clair Omar Musser’s Etude in C Major, Op. 6, No. 10 and Etude, Op. 6, No. 8.  Bell will also perform the piece titled Compassion by Lorraine Goodrich Irvin.

The final musical selections will feature the ABAC Woodwind Quartet playing two standards. The first is Stars and Stripes Forever composed by John Phillip Sousa and arranged by Bill Holcombe. Henry Mancini’s The Pink Panther will conclude the performance.
