ABAC JAZZ GROUPS PERFORM AT COCOA BEACH JAZZ FEST

TIFTON – The jazz groups of Abraham Baldwin College have been invited to participate in the Cocoa Beach Jazz Festival April 21-23.  The annual event will span a period of three days featuring professional jazz artists and jazz ensembles from around the world.

The event begins at 11 a.m. each day and continues until 11 p.m.  The ABAC Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Choir will perform on April 22 from 3:30 to 5 p.m.  There is a charge to the performance.

The ABAC Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Don Coates, associate professor of music, and the ABAC Jazz Choir under the direction of Dr. Susan Roe, assistant professor of voice, will perform a variety of music at the festival consisting of swing, Latin, and blues. The ABAC Jazz groups are the only non-professional jazz group invited to perform. This concert is part of an annual spring recruitment tour taken each April by ABAC’s music department.

The ABAC Concert Band, Concert Choir, Jazz Choir, and Jazz Band will perform on April 21 in Nashville at Berrien County High School at 8:15 a.m. and Cook County High School in Adel at 1:30 p.m. prior to the Cocoa Beach performance.

The last performance of the ABAC Music Department for the 2005-2006 academic year will be the Spring Music Recital to be held on April 26 at 5 p.m. in ABAC’s Chapel of All Faiths. Everyone is welcome to attend free of charge.
