SCHOLARSHIPS WORTH $46,350 AWARDED TO ABAC STUDENTS

TIFTON—Forty-two scholarships totaling $50,600 were awarded to Abraham Baldwin College students during Wednesday’s Honors Day ceremony. The awards, provided through the ABAC Foundation, were based on a number of criteria such as leadership ability, character, academic excellence, and financial need.

The $300 Brightwell Horticulture Scholarship was awarded to Luis Arreguin, an environmental horticulture technology major from Baxley. Jodie C. McDonald, a nursing major from Moultrie, received the $350 E.P. & Iliene Bowen, Jr. Memorial Scholarship.

A John Henry Dorminy Scholarship in the amount of $500 went to Casey G. Allison, a business administration major from Dahlonega. Jessica L. Lupo, a nursing major from Moultrie, received a $500 Viola Carswell Johnson Nursing Scholarship. A $500 Tift County Council on Child Abuse Scholarship was awarded to Charles A. Nasworthy, a pre-veterinary major from Midville. Alex J. Bernardon, a sports turf major from Monroe, received the $500 Southeastern Turfgrass Conference Scholarship and the $1,500 E. Ray Jensen Turfgrass Scholarship.

A Dorris Garrison Nelson Memorial Scholarship in the amount of $500 was awarded to Marla S. Green, a human services major from Omega. Elizabeth C. Lynn, a pharmacy major from Reidsville, received the $500 Agnes Davis Donaldson Scholarship. The $800 Jean B. Stoufer Nursing Scholarship was awarded to Jennifer E. Neely, a nursing major from Moultrie. Jessica M. Dixon, a forest resources major from Cumming, received the $900 Vernon Yow Forestry Scholarship.

Two $1,000 Abraham Baldwin Alumni Scholarships were awarded to Brandi M. Palmer, a pharmacy major from Camilla; and Jacob R. Sauls, a pharmacy major from Tifton. Jeri A. Guthrie, an agriculture major from Adel; and Stephanie M. Slappey, an animal science major from Fortson, received $1,000 ABAC Ag Alumni Scholarships.

Two $1,000 Shirley C. Hutchinson Memorial Scholarships were awarded to Joanne B. Franklin, a nursing major from Valdosta, and Stephanie S. Withrow, a nursing major from Moultrie. A $1,000 Affinity Health Group Scholarship was awarded to Jake C. Fountain, a pre-medicine major from Ashburn. Amanda L. Perry, a family and consumer sciences transfer major from Cordele, received the $1,000 Family & Consumer Sciences Scholarship.

A $1,000 B.H. and Lanell Claxton Scholarship went to Janna L. Legg, an animal science major from Palm City, Fla. Evelyn N. Felton, an agriculture major from Tifton, received the $1,000 Larry D. Allen Agricultural Leadership Scholarship. A $1,000 W. Bruce & Rosalyn Ray Donaldson Journalism Scholarship was awarded to Adam C. McMillan, a journalism major from Tifton.

The President’s Choice Scholarship for $1,000 went to Brian D. Tankersley, a mathematics major from Tifton. Jennifer R. Smith, an agriculture major from Waycross, received the $1,000 Eason Agricultural Studies Scholarship.

Five Allan & Lelia J. Garden Scholarships worth $1,200 each were awarded to Michael L. Barnes, an agricultural engineering major from Fitzgerald; Amanda J. Griffin, a nursing major from Fitzgerald; Jeffrey C. Jerkins, a liberal arts major from Fitzgerald; William E. Rineair, an agricultural education major from Fitzgerald; and Brandon A. Dunlap, a business administration major from Ocilla.

Two $1,500 Allan & Lelia J. Garden Scholarships were awarded to Lisa M. Allison, a nursing major from Ocilla; and Beau B. Leyse, a nursing major from Fitzgerald. Russell P. Epps, a wildlife technology major from Arnoldsville, received a $1,500 Lane Green Wildlife Management Scholarship. A $1,500 Daren Brownlow Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Matthew W. Hughes, a forest resources major from Barnesville.

Charles W. Stephens, a plant science major from Hampton, received the $1,500 J. Fielding Reed/GA Plant Food Educational Society Scholarship. The $1,500 J.E. & Annie Lou Connor Forestry Scholarship was awarded to Blake E. Harris, a forest technology major from Musella. Rebecca Song Lee Miolen was the recipient of a $1,500 Donald and Betty Jones Business Scholarship.

A $1,500 Georgia Vegetable Company Scholarship was awarded to Shelley C. Greenleaf, a business administration major from Tifton. Bradley W. Hambry, a wildlife technology major from Tifton, received a $1,500 David W. Mullis Memorial Scholarship. Gregory B. Hill, a biology major from Tifton, received a $1,500 Prince Automotive Group Scholarship.

Three $2,500 James and Joyce Kirk Scholarships were awarded to Michael C. Ballew, an agriculture education major from Chatsworth; Michael Maw, an agronomy and agricultural communication double major from Enigma; and Randi M. Walden, an animal science major from Stockbridge.
